Code Collaborator supports several databases:

For trials, the zero-configuration embedded database is the easiest way to get started.  MySQL is the best choice if you need a free, open-source database.

A built-in database migration tool allows you to move between any of the supported databases, so you can always get started on one and switch to another later on.
